Just for Today

Lord, for tomorrow and its needs,
I do not pray;
Keep me, my God, from stain of sin
Just for today.

Let me both diligently work,
and duly pray.
Let me be kind in word and deed,
Just for today.

Let me be slow to do my will,
Prompt me to obey;
Help me to sacrifice myself
Just for today.

And if today my tide of life
Should ebb away,
Give me thy Sacraments divine,
Sweet Lord, today.

So for tomorrow and its needs
I do not pray,
But keep me, guide me, love me, Lord,
Just for today.

Saint Augustine's Prayer Book

How Easy Lord

How easy for me to live with you, O Lord!
How easy for me to believe in you!
when my mind parts in bewilderment or falters,
when the most intelligent people see no further
than the days end and do not know
what must be done tomorrow,
You grant me the serene certitude
that you exist and that you will take care
that not all paths of good be closed,
Atop a ridge of earthly fame,
I look back in wonder at the path
which I alone could never have found,
a wonderous path through despair to this point
from which I, too, could transmit
to mankind a reflection of your rays.
and as much as I must reflect
You will give me.
but as much as I cannot take up
You will have already assigned to others.

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

Love

John 15:12-17:  "My command is
this: Love each other as I have
loved you" (v. 12)

Thank you, Lord, for your written word
that tells of your
everlasting love for us.
Help us to communicate your love to
others.

A Cup of Water

Mark 9:33-41:  "I tell you the
truth, anyone who gives you a
cup of water in my name because
you belong to Christ will certainly
not lose his reward" (v. 41)

Grant a special blessing, Lord, on those
who give comfort to people whose lives
are measured in days and hours.

God's Temple

1 Cor. 3:16-17:  "Don't you know
that yourselves are God's temple
and that God's spirit lives in you?
If anyone destroys God's temple,
God will destroy him; for God's
temple is sacred, and you are
that temple."

It is an awesome thought, Lord that
our body is your temple. Help us to
keep it fit for your dwelling.

Hope

Prov. 15:30  "A cheerful look
brings joy to the heart, and good
news gives health to the bones."

Thank you, Lord, for the opertunity to
give good news to others. Help us to
bring hope with a cheerful countenance
when the news is less good.

Meditations
May I Rest In Peace With Thee

I am thine, O Lord, I have heard thy voice,
and it told thy love to me;
but I long to rise in the arms of faith
and be closer drawn to thee.
Consecrate me now to thy service, Lord,
by the power of grace devine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
and my will be lost in thine.
O, the pure delight of a single hour
that before thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with you, my God,
I commune as friend with friend!
There are depts of love that I cannot Know
till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
till I rest in peace with thee.

                         Transformational Prayer

                 God of all living, enable us to surrender ourselves to you in silence

and in love.  Fill our lives with your compassion that we may live in
                 the generosity of forgiveness.  Ever remind us that you dwell in the
                 deepest recesses of our being and that your will for us is the
                 radiance of our hope.  Amen.

Father, God bless all my  friends in whatever it is that You know they may be needing this day! And  may their life be full of your peace, which transcends all understanding. Amen.

Almighty God,

Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

maker of all things, judge of all men:

We acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins

  and wickedness,

which we from time to time most grievously have committed,

by thought, word, and deed, against thy divine Majesty,

provoking most justly thy wrath and indignation against us.

We do earnestly repent,

and are heartily sorry for these our misdoings;

the remembrance of them is grievous unto us,

the burden of them is intolerable.

Have mercy upon us,

have mercy upon us, most merciful Father;

for thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ's sake,

forgive us all that is past;

and grant that we may ever hereafter

serve and please thee in newness of life,

to the honor and glory of thy Name;

through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Almighty God, whose blessed Son was led by the Spirit to be

tempted of Satan: Make speed to help thy servants who are

assaulted by manifold temptations; and, as thou knowest

their several infirmities, let each one find thee mighty to save;

through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and

reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Amen.

Psalm 51    Miserere mei, Deus

1     Have mercy on me, O God, according to your

loving‑kindness; *

    in your great compassion blot out my offenses.

2      Wash me through and through from my wickedness *

    and cleanse me from my sin.

3     For I know my transgressions, *

    and my sin is ever before me.

4      Against you only have I sinned *

and done what is evil in your sight.

5     And so you are justified when you speak *

    and upright in your judgment.

6      Indeed, I have been wicked from my birth, *

    a sinner from my mother's womb.

7     For behold, you look for truth deep within me, *

    and will make me understand wisdom secretly.

8     Purge me from my sin, and I shall be pure;

wash me, and I shall be clean indeed.

9     Make me hear of joy and gladness, *

    that the body you have broken may rejoice.

10   Hide your face from my sins *

    and blot out all my iniquities.

11   Create in me a clean heart, O God, *

    and renew a right spirit within me.

12   Cast me not away from your presence *

    and take not your holy Spirit from me.

13   Give me the joy of your saving help again *

    and sustain me with your bountiful Spirit.

14   I shall teach your ways to the wicked, *

and sinners shall return to you.

15   Deliver me from death, O God, *

    and my tongue shall sing of your righteousness,

    O God of my salvation.

16   Open my lips, O Lord, *

and my mouth shall proclaim your praise.

17   Had you desired it, I would have offered sacrifice; *

but you take no delight in burnt‑offerings.

18   The sacrifice of God is a troubled spirit; *

    a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
