Just for Today
Lord, for tomorrow and its needs,
I do not pray;
Keep me, my God, from stain of sin
Just for today.
Let me both diligently work,
and duly pray.
Let me be kind in word and deed,
Just for today.
Let me be slow to do my will,
Prompt me to obey;
Help me to sacrifice myself
Just for today.
And if today my tide of life
Should ebb away,
Give me thy Sacraments divine,
Sweet Lord, today.
So for tomorrow and its needs
I do not pray,
But keep me, guide me, love me, Lord,
Just for today.
Saint Augustine's Prayer Book
How Easy Lord
How easy for me to live with you, O Lord!
How easy for me to believe in you!
when my mind parts in bewilderment or falters,
when the most intelligent people see no further
than the days end and do not know
what must be done tomorrow,
You grant me the serene certitude
that you exist and that you will take care
that not all paths of good be closed,
Atop a ridge of earthly fame,
I look back in wonder at the path
which I alone could never have found,
a wonderous path through despair to this point
from which I, too, could transmit
to mankind a reflection of your rays.
and as much as I must reflect
You will give me.
but as much as I cannot take up
You will have already assigned to others.
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

Love
John 15:12-17: "My command is
this: Love each other as I have
loved you" (v. 12)
Thank you, Lord, for your written word
that tells of your everlasting love for us.
Help us to communicate your love to
others.
A Cup of Water
Mark 9:33-41: "I tell you the
truth, anyone who gives you a
cup of water in my name because
you belong to Christ will certainly
not lose his reward" (v. 41)
Grant a special blessing, Lord, on those
who give comfort to people whose lives
are measured in days and hours.
God's Temple
1 Cor. 3:16-17: "Don't you know
that yourselves are God's temple
and that God's spirit lives in you?
If anyone destroys God's temple,
God will destroy him; for God's
temple is sacred, and you are
that temple."
It is an awesome thought, Lord that
our body is your temple. Help us to
keep it fit for your dwelling.
Hope
Prov. 15:30 "A cheerful look
brings joy to the heart, and good
news gives health to the bones."
Thank you, Lord, for the opertunity to
give good news to others. Help us to
bring hope with a cheerful countenance
when the news is less good.

The community of Christian brethren in Taizé, France was founded in 1940 by Brother Roger, who remained its leader until his death on August 16, 2005. The community is made up of more than a hundred men from many nations representing a wide variety of Christian denominations. Life in the community focuses on prayer and meditation. Young people from all over the world visit Taizé each week to join in the community life.
The community, though Western European in origin, seeks to welcome people and traditions from across the globe. This internationalism is reflected by the music and prayers where songs are sung in many languages and increasingly include chants and icons from the Eastern Orthodox tradition.
The Taize' service is a beautiful time to worship.
Sundays at 7:00 p.m.
Since the end of World War II, the Taizé Community has developed into a leading ecumenical body committed to reconciling the different Christian Churches, and it has worked closely with Catholic and Protestant groups. The Community has been particularly successful at appealing to young worshipers, and its use of music in the liturgy is central to this appeal.
Taizé has created a uniquely functional style of liturgical music that reflects the meditative nature of the Community. The music emphasizes simple phrases, usually lines from the Psalms or other extracts from the Scriptures, repeated or sung in canon. The repetition is intended to aid meditation and prayer.
A Taizé Service is a time to sing, pray and commune quietly with God. The chant-like quality of the Taizé hymnody allows all involved to focus on the silent conversation that takes place between God and ourselves in the deepest part of our souls.
