Curriculum Holy Apostles Episcopal School
Language Arts
The curriculum for HOLY APOSTLES EPISCOPAL SCHOOL reading will incorporate a combination of phonics instruction, reading comprehension instruction through authentic children's literature, and writing practice through guided lessons. Thinking Maps will help students graphically organize and visualize concepts.
Our students will have Silver Burdett reading textbooks as well as individual reading level books available for their use in the classroom.
Mathematics
Everyday Mathematics will be the core of the mathematics program at HOLY APOSTLES EPISCOPAL SCHOOL. Developed by The University of Chicago School Mathematics Project, Everyday Mathematics is a nationally renowned program that teaches children to develop strategies for solving problems and learning how to think mathematically.
Writing
Writer's Workshop is a writing program starting at the Kindergarten level that makes writing a lifelong habit that we hope to implement at HOLY APOSTLES EPISCOPAL SCHOOL.
Science/Social Studies
Students will engage in science and social studies as it is integrated throughout the curriculum using units of study.
Spanish
Students at HOLY APOSTLES EPSICOPAL SCHOOL will study new vocabulary, greeting, Hispanic culture, and advance to reading, writing, and speaking in sentences in Spanish.
Co-curricular
Art, Music, Physical Education will be integrated into the curriculum as well as Chapel once a week . Students will attend weekly Chapel serving as acolytes on a rotating schedule.
Manners and Etiquette are very important at HOLY APOSTLES EPISCOPAL SCHOOL.
Teachers and students will treat each other with compassion and care. Basic rules of manner will an integral part of the curriculum.
